About the Teacher

  • My name is Cassidy St. John. I have the honor of being your child's fifth grade Reading and English Language Arts teacher. I graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University through their Tech Teach program. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree through Johns Hopkins Univeristy. This is my eighth year in education.  In the past, I have taught second grade as a self-contained instructor as well as third and fourth grade within the English Language Arts department.  I have served on the curriculum writing committee for Language Arts, in my previous district. I am excited to focus my efforts towards helping this group of young people develop skills for meaningful writing and deep thinking.

  • Fun Facts:

My favorite color is lime green though teal is a close second.

My favorite animals are birds. I have two parrotlets named Aero and Sprout.

My favorite candies are sour gummy worms.

    My favorite hobby is painting.

My favorite place to visit is the zoo... or the bookstore.

I played piano as a child.

I was in choir from third grade through my senior year of high school.

The weirdest pet I've owned was a giant tortoise.

I've also owned white bellied tree frogs, red eared sliders, a barred tiger salamander, hamsters, fish, hermit crabs, and a cockatiel. Dogs go without mentioning.

The natural wonder I want to see most is the Aurora Borealis.

  • What I'm Reading

    (For Parents)

I personally prefer historical fiction. I also enjoy science and fantasy fiction.

I just finished reading Kristin Hannah's "The Nightingale." It was so good I finished it in three days. I could not put it down.

I am currently reading Janet Beard's "The Atomic City Girls." I'm still in the character development stages of the novel. I will update this page once I finish it.

I love to hear suggestions for new books. If anyone has a suggestion, please share!
