3 = Proficient - Regularly gives good effort and shows understanding most of the time of musical concepts taught

1 = Below Basic - Working below grade level in effort and understanding of musical concepts taught

Music grades will be given based on participation, student's progress in class, and ability to demonstrate understanding of music TEKS that are taught.  Because music is mostly a performance art, written grades are seldom taken.  Grades taken are based on my observation of their effort in participation and of their demonstration through their participation of what they understand about musical concepts taught.

Students will also receive a conduct grade in music based on classroom behavior.  Parents will receive a Specials Conduct Report if a behavior needs to be addressed.
