Dear Parents/Guardians of 4th Grade Spanish Immersion,

I would like to welcome you and your child to fourth grade!  I am looking forward to a fun-filled, enriching and successful school year.  Fourth grade holds many challenges. Nonetheless, with consistency, open communication, trust, and perseverance, together we will successfully meet them all!

I'm so excited to let you know that Mrs. Morales and I will be co-teaching 4th grade  SIP this year. I will teach Language Arts, Writing  & Social Studies.  Mrs. Morales will be your child’s teacher for Math and Science.

This coming first week, as folders are put in place, books are stacked, pencils are sharpened and routines are established, your child will ease into the fourth grade! I know we will have a great 2022-2023 school year!

In 4th grade the Spanish/English curriculum is divided as follows:

    ·         Math- Spanish & English

    ·         Reading- Spanish

    ·         Grammar/Writing- Spanish & English

    ·         Spelling/Ortografía- both in Spanish and English
                                             (lists are provided every week)

    ·         Social Studies- Spanish

    ·         Science- Spanish & English

** Our daily routine is all conducted in Spanish (lunch count, periods between subjects, etc.)**

Our daily schedule includes all the subjects listed above. Periodically, specific projects will be assigned to be  completed independently.  Furthermore, if your child is assigned a project in Spanish, sufficient time will always be provided in order for the students to work on it in class when I am available to help.

Our class has five main rules:

    1.    Follow all instructions.

    2.    Work during designated work times

    3.    Keep hands, feet, and objects in your
           personal space

    4.    Arrive on time with all the supplies

    5.    Speak Spanish!

Students are expected to follow these rules at all times.  In addition, following the Bear Necessities is crucial for us in 4th grade!
